About JOURNEY

JOURNEY is a Singapore brand that represents the creative talents of people with intellectual disabilities. Through this platform, the artwork of artists with special needs from TOUCH Community Services are recognised. JOURNEY currently supports some 60 artists who will earn an income from the sale of their art, and gain access to opportunities for collaborations that showcase their talent and tenacity.

JOURNEY Paintings offers a wide range of drawings/paintings in different strokes, styles and colours that reflect the emotions of the artists.

In conjunction with Singapore's 57th birthday, take a peek into our artists' works that celebrate the resilience and achievement of Singapore over the years!

Artist Profiles

Our special artists are adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities from TOUCH Special Needs Group. They attend visual art programmes at TOUCH SpecialCrafts, where their talents and skills are further developed through training and exposure to different art forms. Our artists are taught to express themselves through art and develop their own distinctive styles across various mediums.

JOURNEY’s special artists produce works of commercial value, ranging from ceramic products to paintings and printed products. 

Cheng Chiang Yong

As an artist, Chiang Yong has his own unique way of interpreting a subject and he has created many artworks of the Vanda Miss Joaquim with his eye for beauty. While Chiang Yong is a lively person who proudly shares his enthusiasm for his art, he is also a true gentleman, always responsible and helpful in lending a helping hand to his peers.

Chiang Yong is a family person and he is close to his mother. He enjoys spending time with her during the weekends. Chiang Yong is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability, Visual and Speech Impairment.

Eugene Lim

Eugene is a caring friend who takes the initiative to help his peers when they are in need. One of Eugene’s favourite pastimes is solving word search puzzles.


He enjoys attending visual art and cooking classes.

Eugene is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability and Multiple Congenital Deformities.


Emily Chua

Emily loves animals, especially cats. Felines hold a special appeal for her as she finds them graceful and mysterious. Emily also enjoys creating art. It is a good platform for her to express her feelings and perspective to a wider audience.


Being exposed to different art forms has helped Emily develop a better appreciation for the use of colours in her art. She hopes that her paintings can make people happy. Emily is diagnosed with Down Syndrome.


Say Kim Han

The city life in Singapore is a source of fascination for Kim Han. He enjoys jogging. When jogging, Kim Han often thinks of his favourite Singaporean landmarks, such as the Marina Bay Sands and Raffles City.

He excels in sketching intricate details in his artwork, reflecting the methodical way he thinks. Kim Han is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Max David

Max David is a friendly and creative individual who enjoys singing and dancing. He takes pride in his work as an artist. His gentleness with his brushstrokes allows his paintings to come to life. Max David is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability and Epilepsy.

Natalie Yap

Natalie is a quiet girl and she takes a while to warm up to people. Baking is one of her favourite activities because she likes desserts. She is a big foodie and she loves spicy food. Her favourite dish is nasi lemak.

As an artist, the theme of circles and ovals is a hallmark of Natalie’s work due to her fascination with round shapes. Natalie is diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Partial Hearing Impairment, and Partial Speech Impairment.

Ng Jie Qi

Jie Qi used to find it difficult to express herself. Through art, she is able to better express her emotions and has grown to be more sociable.

Jie Qi loves music and her energetic disposition is shown when she dances. She enjoys baking as a hobby. Jie Qi is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Wong Jun Quan

Jun Quan is a huge movie and television series buff. He loves watching action films, especially if they are kung fu related. Passionate about art, Jun Quan sketches in his free time and hones his craft before going to bed every night.

Jun Quan also has a keen interest in technology and enjoys drawing IT-related memorabilia, such as computers and smartphones in his artwork. Jun Quan is diagnosed with Down Syndrome.

Kwan Shi En

Shi En embodies the phrase: "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." She is always determined to achieve the goals she sets out to do.

Known to be caring to her family and friends, Shi En's sunny disposition translates into the warm and joyful paintings that she draws. Shi En is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability and Nager Syndrome.

Mark Tam

Mark is a dependable person who can always be counted on by his peers for help. As an artist, he enjoys making use of different colours combination to express his creativity.

Mark likes listening to music whenever he can as it helps in his creative process before starting on a painting. Mark is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.


Jocelyn Kong

Jocelyn is a thoughtful person who always offers her hand to those in need. Her observant nature translates well to her paintings as it is evident that her drawings are precise and detailed. Jocelyn is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Chua Ai Lan

Shy by nature, art has given Ai Lan an outlet to express her feelings. Her keen eye for details and unique colour choices has allowed her to create numerous marvellous art pieces that are distinctive. Ai Lan is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability

Shennie Yang

Shennie’s love for family and close ties with her siblings and parents are often her inspiration for art. As an artist, Shennie gravitates to cute animals and nature.

She enjoys drawing hamsters and flowers. She also loves inventing art patterns using the alphabets in her name. Shennie is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Shoban Pillai

Shoban is an avid movie buff who often looks out for the latest blockbusters at his local cinema. His favourite movies are ‘Star Wars’ and ‘The Avengers’. Both movies resonate with his view of heroes triumphing over villains.

Besides movies, he enjoys sports, especially swimming. As an artist, he is inspired by animals, flowers, mountains, and lakes. Shoban is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Johannezan

Johannezan loves abstract art. The motion of brushstrokes makes him feel calm and happy. Known to be jolly and fun-loving to his family and friends, you can see him playing his iPad games in his free time. Johannezan is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability and Noonan Syndrome.


Eric Lee

Eric is a capable and independent person who his friends rely on. With a good eye for colours, Eric creates stunning pieces of art that are vibrant and whimsical. In his free time, Eric likes to travel by bus as he gets to take in the scenery of Singapore that inspires his artwork. Eric is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Grace Lim

Grace used to be quiet, but her growing love for art has enabled her to be more expressive to her friends and family. In her free time, Grace likes to window shop.

As a budding artist, Grace has been given opportunities to hone her artistic skills under the tutelage of local artists and art professionals. Her style includes vivid, fluid brushstrokes with acrylic paint to reflect her creativity and passion in expressing herself through her art. Grace is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Tham Yu Xuan

Yu Xuan is a budding artist who is always keen to learn and try new forms of art. Her willingness to learn allows her to come up with unique ideas to portray and express herself through her art. Yu Xuan is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Yap Sock Luan

Listening to Chinese songs brings joy to Sock Luan. Quiet and gentle by nature, she is loved by many of her friends for being helpful. Her meticulous nature shines through in her art pieces - from the choice of colours to how each brushstroke should be applied. Sock Luan is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Lim Chin Ren

Soft-spoken by nature, Chin Ren is an artist that is well organised and detailed. He expresses his thoughts through his art pieces that speak a thousand words.

He likes to watch TV and he often draws inspiration for his artwork from TV shows. Chin Ren is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.

Ivan Tay

Ivan is a polite and friendly person who always greets his friends and coaches when he sees them. His ability to use different colours to express himself shines through the artwork he paints.

In his spare time, Ivan likes to sit on long bus rides to enjoy the scenery. Ivan is diagnosed with Intellectual Disability.
